Three Brothers Brewing was founded in 2016 by brothers Kit and David Dodd, along with their brother-in-law, Chris Wright. What started as a passion project quickly grew into something far more.
Kit, who studied chemical engineering, began his brewing journey at a 1000L microbrewery, where he spent five years honing his skills. It was there he worked his way up to Head Brewer, gaining invaluable experience that would eventually shape the direction of Three Brothers Brewing.
David, having previously worked in engine design, made the decision to leave his job and join the brewery full-time as Brewery Manager and Sales Coordinator.
Chris brings over 20 years of experience in hospitality, including many years as a head chef. Seeking a new investment opportunity and challenge, he found the perfect alignment with Kit, David, and their combined skill sets. With the support of Beth—Chris’s wife, and Kit & David’s sister—and Kit’s wife, Sal, the team took a leap of faith together, and that’s how Three Brothers Brewing was born.
We took over an old car showroom in our hometown of Stockton-on-Tees and transformed it into a cutting-edge 1800L microbrewery and inviting taproom, all while remaining committed to our family roots. Initially, we envisioned Three Brothers as a small, one-man operation, but as the demand for our craft beers grew, so did our team. Together, Kit, David, and Chris worked tirelessly to create a brewery that blends tradition with innovation, always striving to create the best beer for our customers.
Family is at the heart of everything we do. Chris' wife, Beth, plays an integral role in managing events and marketing, ensuring our brewery connects with the local community. Kit's wife, Sal, helps keep the business running smoothly through bookkeeping, ensuring our finances are always in order. We're proud to have built a strong, passionate team around us.
We were thrilled to welcome Russ from Roundhill Brewery as our Lead Brewer, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. We’ve also been fortunate to bring on a talented group of individuals, including Matt and Dan, who have both completed their brewing apprenticeships during their time at Three Brothers. Other members of the warehouse team are Matt, Bex & Jake who all help with our packaging. Our two vans are often out and about around the North East and beyond with Davey or Dan in the drivers seat. In our sales team we have the lovely Sarah and Janie with the odd office pet dog for good measure! Our dad also recently joined the team on severl energy conservation projects with Teesside & Leeds University. Together, our team is dedicated to brewing high-quality beer and ensuring the continued success of Three Brothers Brewing.
Looking back at our journey since 2016, we’ve faced many challenges, but we've always been driven by a shared vision of crafting exceptional beers and building a community around them. We’re incredibly excited about the future and have big plans ahead, and we can’t wait to share them with you!
